Instrument Society
Shanghai Instrument and Meter Society is an academic mass organization of scientific and technological workers in instrument and related disciplines in Shanghai. It was established in April 1980 and currently has nearly 1,000 members. It is affiliated with Shanghai Instrument and Meter Research Institute Co., Ltd., which is affiliated to Shanghai Academy of Sciences. Shanghai Instrument and Meter Society is led by Shanghai Association for Science and Technology and is a component of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology. Shanghai Instrument and Meter Society is a first-level legal person academic society organization registered in Shanghai with the approval of Shanghai Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau.
Shanghai Instrument and Meter Society has 12 professional committees: youth work, human resources management, automatic control design research, optical instruments, analytical instruments, scientific experimental instruments, electromagnetic measurement, process detection, sensors and components, emergency equipment, embedded systems, and intelligent engineering. The publications published and issued include "Instrument Technology".
The chairman of the first and second councils of the society was the late academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Zhi Bingyi. The chairman of the sixth and seventh councils of the society was academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhuang Songlin. The current chairman of the ninth council of the society is Professor Fei Minrui of Shanghai University.
Since its establishment, the society has achieved outstanding results in academic exchanges, technical exchanges, popular science publicity, continuing education, scientific and technological consultation, technical services, publishing periodicals, holding exhibitions, promoting technical and economic cooperation, and proposing suggestions for industry development in the field of domestic and international instrumentation.
The main areas of work of the Society include:
(I) Carry out academic activities, activate academic thoughts, disseminate advanced technologies, improve scientific standards, and promote the development and application of instrumentation science and technology.
(II) Popularize instrumentation science and technology knowledge and promote advanced science and technology management experience.
(III) Accept the commission of government departments to provide soft science and technology services such as decision-making consultation, technical demonstration, and project evaluation; accept the commission of enterprises and institutions to carry out science and technology evaluation, technical consultation, technology development, technology transfer, and technical services.
(IV) Carry out continuing education, improve the professional level of instrumentation science and technology personnel, carry out youth science and technology activities, and improve the scientific and cultural literacy of young people.
(V) Carry out international science and technology exchange activities and develop friendly and cooperative relations with foreign science and technology groups and scientific and technological workers.
(VI) Edit and publish academic journals and popular science books, publicize and report scientific and technological achievements and information.
(VII) Reflect the opinions and requirements of scientific and technological workers to the Party and the government, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of scientific and technological workers; recommend talents, commend advanced people, and organize various activities to serve scientific and technological workers.
