This "Science Popularization into Schools" event has a total of 6 courses, relying on the Youth League Committee of the Shanghai Institute of Science and Technology "Yingke Class", to bring practical knowledge such as experimental animals, air purification, and nanotechnology into the classrooms of the First Primary School of Huai De Road, Yangpu District.
On the afternoon of April 12th, Dr. Lin Jinxing from the Shanghai Research Center for Laboratory Animals brought a lively and interesting "Laboratory Animals" class to the second-grade students of Weiliedao Primary School. During the class, Teacher Lin engaged the students' interest with a catchy song about laboratory animals, and then introduced the world of zebrafish, a new model organism. In addition to the basic knowledge explanation, the class also included a hands-on experimental session that the students enjoy: observing zebrafish and answering questions, as well as a zebrafish anesthesia experiment. By adding a certain amount of anesthetic to clean water, the students observed the process of zebrafish gradually falling into unconsciousness in the anesthetic diluent and recorded the time it took for the entire unconsciousness.
Throughout the course of "Experimental Animals", the teaching design is reasonable, the structure is clear, the students' thinking is active, the course stimulates students' interest, and students are inspired to develop a love for applied science, actively seeking knowledge, and cultivating students' intention and interest in exploring applied science.
