This year marks the 99th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement and the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Youth League. Taking this as an opportunity, the Youth League Committee of our institute has launched a thematic Youth League day activity with the theme "Seeking the Development of the National Anthem, Discussing the 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up".

In the afternoon of May 4, 2018, the 10 young members of our group visited the National Anthem Exhibition Hall and the Shanghai Jewish Memorial Hall. Through the explanations of the guides, the young members understood the background of the birth of the "March of the Volunteers" and the little-known stories behind it, and during the exhibition process, they felt the inseparable connection between the national anthem and the city of Shanghai.

Walking for 10 minutes from the National Anthem Exhibition Hall, the youth members then visited the Shanghai Jewish Memorial Hall. After the outbreak of World War II, Jews were persecuted by fascism, and a large number of refugees fled Germany. Mr. He Fengshan issued thousands of "life" visas to Jews under great pressure, and Shanghai accepted more than 23,000 Jews, including more than 14,000 Jews living near Tianjin Road in Hongkou District. By understanding the history of Jews seeking refuge in Shanghai, the youth members felt the temperature of the city at that time and talked about the national pride brought about by the rapid economic development after the reform and opening up, which inspired the youth members to contribute their youthful strength and strive for progress.
