At 10 a.m. on April 30, 2019, the youth members of the Institute for Optics and Precision Engineering put down their work and gathered in the conference room on the seventh floor of the institute to watch the ceremony commemorating the 100th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement, paying tribute to this major historical event with a sense of national pride.

The May Fourthth Movement is a landmark event in the history of modern China, and the patriotic spirit it left behind has had a profound impact. The May Fourthth spirit of patriotism, progress, democracy, and science is of great significance for the realization of the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. At the commemorative meeting, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important speech, putting forward six requirements for Chinese youth in the new era. The Youth League members carefully recorded and discussed these requirements after the commemorative meeting.

As the youth of a new era, we should be prepared for potential dangers even in times of peace, take on our responsibilities, not be discouraged, not be extreme, improve self-awareness, take steady steps, solidify our foundation, persevere for the long term, showcase our personal talents, and compose the song of our youth.
